  • Lloyd W. “Bill” Rutter

    Lloyd W. “Bill” Rutter, age 82 of Cedar Vale, Kansas passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

    He was born in Rural Chautauqua County, Kansas on August 9, 1938 to Lloyd Rutter and Alma Bradford.  He attended school in Arkansas City before graduating from Cedar Vale High School.

    On July 6, 1957 he married Mary Lois Oliver in Wellington, Kansas.  They lived most of their married life in Cedar Vale.  She preceded him in death on February 8, 2004.

    Bill worked for Caney Valley Electric for 20+ years as a lineman and line superintendent. He also was an over the road truck driver for many years working for others and driving for his own company.

    Bill was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cedar Vale, was a past member of the Masonic Lodge in Cedar Vale, was a former member of the Cedar Vale City Council; he enjoyed woodworking, working on vehicles, mowing lawns, driving around, and spending time with family and especially his grandchildren.

    He is survived by one son; Roger Rutter and (Deana) of Cedar Vale, Kansas, one daughter, Darla Buck-Krittenbrink and (David) of Okarche, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Jake Rutter, Jereme Buck (Lacey), Dalton Buck (Kami), Decker Mitchell-Rutter, Kara Krittenbrink, and Drew Krittenbrink (Katie); three great-grandchildren, Gemmah, Hunter, and Jenna Buck; his longtime friend Laura Stough of Cedar Vale, Kansas and many other family and friends.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, step-father Roger Wyatt, parents, and one sister Alma Tallchief.

    Graveside memorial services will be held Monday, July 19, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cedar Vale Cemetery in Cedar Vale, Kansas with Pastor Mark Davis of the First Baptist Church of Sedan officiating

    In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the donor’s choice and can be left in care of the Dickens Family Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
