  • Katherine “Kathy” Marie Kirchner
    Kathy M. Kirchner, age 70, of Cedar Vale, Kansas passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2020 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
    Kathy was born on October 12, 1950 in Winfield, Kansas to Rollin Bohannan and Golda (Moore) Bohannan.  She grew up and attended school in Cedar Vale and later received her GED.
    Kathy married Harold Kirchner and four kids were born to this union; Scotty, Bobby, Teresa, and Brenda.  They later divorced.
    Kathy later married John Walker and two children were born to this union; Kayla and Kendra.  They later divorced.
    Kathy worked for over 30 years as a CNA and Med Aide.  She really loved working with people.  She also worked at the Hilltop Restaurant and The People’s Place in Cedar Vale.
    Kathy lived in Cedar Vale the majority of her life.  She enjoyed reading, helping with the rodeos in Cedar Vale, working at the People’s Place,  cooking, and especially loved spending time with her family and grandkids.
    She is survived by her six children; Scotty Kirchner of Cedar Vale, Kansas, Bobby Kirchner of Cedar Vale, Kansas, Kayla Stong and husband Ross of Cedar Vale, Kansas, Kendra Leonard and husband Sage of Elgin, Kansas, Teresa Kirchner and Matt Lesemann of Newkirk, Oklahoma, and Brenda Kirchner and Steve Bohr of Independence, Kansas; three brothers, Keith Bohannan of Cedar Vale, Kansas, Jimmy Bohannan and wife Phyllis of Claremore, Oklahoma, and Loel Bohannan and wife Mica of Winfield, Kansas; five sisters, Barbara Huster and husband Kenny of Newkirk, Oklahoma, Linda Pontious and husband Lee of Shidler, Oklahoma, Nancy Rockwell of Cherryvale, Kansas, Joyce Samuels and husband Don of Winfield, Kansas, and Anna Wonser of Sedan, Kansas; 11 grandchildren and many other family and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Mike Bohannan.
    Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cedar Creek Cemetery, North of Cedar Vale, Kansas with Pastor Mark Davis of the First Baptist Church of Sedan officiating.
    Family and Friends may call on Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Dickens Family Funeral Home in Sedan,
    The family has requested memorials to the People’s Place and those remembrances may be left in care of the Dickens Family Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.

    Our thoughts and prayers are with Kathy's brothers and sisters, children and grandchildren. We are sorry to have lost our cousin and pray for peace for you at this time. Families of Deb Boss, Larry Boss, Tina Boss-McIver, and Floyd and Betty Boss. Also the children and grandchildren of our late brother, Chet Boss.

    Kathy Always put herself before others... She lives unselfishly and was such an Amazing Lady!!!

    Kathy was a good friend, coworker and neighbor. She was hard working, always willing to help. She loved her family and she will be greatly missed
