  • Robert E. Darnall, age, 65 of Sedan, Kansas passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at his home in Sedan.
    He was born on September 11, 1954 in Cedar Vale, Kansas to Walter Elim Darnall and Bernice Nadine (Young) Darnall. He graduated from Sedan High School in the class of 1972.
    Rob worked for his father at Darnall Well Service and then worked and operated Darnall Drilling from 1973 until 2011 drilling many wells in and around Chautauqua County for many years. He later worked for Chautauqua County Road and Bridge as a gravel hauler until his retirement earlier this year.
    On July 11, 1976 he married Joetta Ann Signer and two boys were born to this union; Richard and Eric. They later divorced. He then married Dora Shufeldt and adopted her daughter Kari Lynn and helped raise her son Leslie. They were later divorced.
    In 2017, Rob found the love of his life in a good friend he had grown up with. He and Terri (Newcomb) Tunison lived a happy life, fought a second cancer together and won, then they fought his third round of cancer. Though he didn’t win that fight, he passed from this life to his heavenly life with her by his side.
    Rob was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sedan; he also enjoyed old cars and trucks and he also enjoyed going to rendezvous.
    Rob is survived by his beloved companion; Terri Tunison; two sons, Richard Elim Darnall and Eric Wayne Darnall; one daughter, Kari Lynn Waddle; one step-son, Leslie James Ray Wolfe; one sister, Pamela Sue Cooper; 6 grandchildren and many other friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
    Church services will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Sedan with Pastor Mark Davis officiating. Burial will follow at the El Cado Cemetery, east of Chautauqua, Kansas.
    Family and friends may call on Monday, August 3, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and the family will be receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Dickens Family Funeral Home in Sedan.
    The family has suggested memorials to the First Baptist Church or the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and those may be left in care of the Dickens Family Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
