  • Linda Mae Bailey, age 69, formerly of Sedan, Kansas, passed away, Saturday, June 6, 2020, in Conroe, Texas.

    Linda was born on October 1, 1950, to Clayton Leslie Wilson and Emma Mae (Smith) Wilson in Sedan, Kansas.  Linda graduated from Sedan High School.  After high school, she attended Independence Community College and later received her LPN certificate at Labette County Community College.

    On December 23, 1971, she married William “Bill” LaFore Russell Bailey in Peru, Kansas.  They made their home in Chautauqua County.

    Linda worked at Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan before working at the Sedan City Hospital as an LPN for over 30 years before retiring earlier this year. Linda was preceded in death by her husband Bill on February 3, 2011.  

    Linda was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Sedan where she was active as a song leader for many years.  She loved scrapbooking for her family, taking Sunday drives in the country, and being involved with Missionettes and women’s ministries for her church.

    Linda is survived by her two sons, W. Clayton “Clay” Bailey and wife Kristy of Conroe, Texas, and P. J. Bailey and wife Brandy of Midlothian, Texas; her father, Clayton Wilson of Cherryvale, Kansas; two sisters, Cinda Osburn and husband Mike of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Lana Brewster and husband Monnie of Sedan, Kansas; one brother, Mark Wilson and wife Shelly of Cherryvale, Kansas; four grandchildren, Ava Bailey, Andrew Bailey, Tristan Hail, and Haley Hail; many other family and friends.

    Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Bailey and mother, Emma Wilson.

    Graveside Services will be held Saturday, June 13, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at the Peru Cemetery in Peru, Kansas, with Pastor Bill Long officiating.

    Linda was one of the sweetest, kindest persons I have ever known. I will miss her. I am so sorry for your loss, but I know she's singing at the top of her lungs with her loved ones now! That makes me feel happy.

    I will always have fond memories of Linda during our travels to football, basketball games etc. She loved her sons and was so proud of their accomplishments on and off the field. She will be missed by all who knew her.

    Linda sweet precious Linda. She has been strength and praying earnestly for so many. She has touched so many lives. She definitely touched our lives and will never be forgotten. When my 2 daughters Dorothy from Hopkinsville, Ky and Paula from Alamogordo, Nm and my granddaughter Andrea from Las Cruces, Nm and I from New Mexico would come to Sedan she invited us to her house to pray, visit and play cards. I married Bill Smith her Mother Emma’s brother. Emma definitely was my best friend she was always there for me all thru the years ever since I was a Sophomore in high school. We had a church band of young people at the Assembly of God in Chautauqua Emma, Bill played tambourine and base Jr (Bill and Emma’s brother) played guitar I played piano also had an accordion and guitar. What a good time! 🎶 Singing and praying together. Emma married Clayton our Linda was born then Cinda and Lana. My babies Dorothy, Larry and Paula were born so our families have been bonded very close since high school. Bill, Emma and Linda are already with our Lord and soon we will be with them and our Lord and Savior and Heavenly Father! My name is Betty Padgett Smith Frettem I live in Los Lunas, Nm

    So sorry to learn of Linda's passing. I've been sick myself and not sure if I responded earlier this month after getting out of hospital. Anyway, I'm so very sorry my dear friend and classmate has passed away. May your memories give comfort of such a lovely lady I was proud to call my friend!!
