  • John D. Conner, age 81 of Sedan, Kansas passed away Thursday, April 23, 2020 at Journey Home Hospice in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
     
    John was born on October 12, 1938 in Tyler, Texas to John M. Conner and Neva N. (Gilbreath) Conner. John attended school in Texas and he received his Associate’s Degree from Tyler Community College.  After high school, John joined The United States Air Force and served until he was honorably discharged.  He later joined the United States Army and served until he was honorably discharged and served in the Army National Guard for several years.
     
    John married Margaret Irene Smith in February 1983 in Sweetwater, Texas.  They moved to Sedan in 1984. 
     
    John and Margaret opened Big Daddies Donut Shop in 2001 in Sedan and sold it in 2010.  John later worked part time at the Sedan Liquor Store.  Margaret preceded him in death on April 20, 2012.
     
    John married Leaetta Clevenger on September 14, 2013 in Sedan.
       
    He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, woodworking, and making bird houses, he also liked to karaoke; he also was a Mason.
     
    John is survived by his wife Leaetta Conner of the home in Sedan, Kansas; he is survived by five daughters; Patricia Conner of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England, Cheri Roden, of Sweetwater, Texas, Carol Shaffer of Eudora, Kansas, Leigh Angela Foster of Sedan, Kansas; and Dawn Dennis of Abilene, Texas; two half- brothers, Terry Shiflet of Edgewood, Texas and Jerry Shiflet of Euless, Texas; step-daughter, Denise Corbett; 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
     
    John was preceded in death by one son Jimmy Lee Conner and his previous wife Margaret Conner, and also four siblings.
     
    Cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled at this time.
