  • Sedan – Gloria June Brosius, Age 93, of Katy, Texas formerly of Sedan, Kansas passed away, January 1, 2020 at the Grace Care Center of Katy in Katy, Texas.

    Gloria was born on June 28, 1926 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Ralph E. Ross and Eva May (Morrow) Ross.  She grew up in Sedan and graduated 

    as Valedictorian from Sedan High School in the class of 1944.  After high school she attended Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois where she received her Registered Nursing Degree.

    On June 20, 1948 she married Rodney R. Brosius in Sedan, Kansas.  They lived in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Wichita, Kansas, and spent most of their lives in Torrance, California and Pearblossom, California until recently moving to Katy, Texas a few years ago.  They also had a house in Sedan and visited here regularly. 

    Gloria worked as a R.N. in a diversified area of nursing for 30 years and she also worked at Northrop Aviation for 15 years before her retirement in 1986.  She was preceded in death by her husband Rodney on May 30, 2003.

    She was a former member of the Presbyterian Church, Gloria attended the First Baptist Church while visiting in Sedan; she was also a DAR member, Genealogist, First Families of Ohio and a member of the Palmer Society; she loved traveling the world, (she had been to 6 continents).  Her family came to America in 1623.

    Survivors include; one son Rodney R. Brosius and wife Kathy of Susanville, California; two daughters, Lynda L. Korcha of Columbus, Georgia, and Laura L. Strong and husband Jim of Katy, Texas; one brother, John E. Ross and wife Betty of Conway, Arkansas; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grand Mother, she will be greatly missed.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, Ralph E. Ross Jr., and her parents.

    Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020  at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Sedan with Pastor Mark Davis of the First Baptist Church officiating.  Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan.

    The family has suggested memorials to the First Baptist Church/Brosius Family Scholarship Fund and those remembrances can be left in care of the Dickens Family Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.




    Gloria was a very sweet lady. She was a friend of my parents. Prayers for her family.


    Gloria was one of the smartest women I had ever known. She was always smiling and had a great sense of humor. I will miss our conversations and friendship. Much love to her family.


    Gloria was not only the wife of my genealogy cousin, her husband, Rodney, but also my long distance friend whom I will always miss. She never failed to telephone me as well as stay in touch with cards and letters. Rest in peace dear Gloria.


    Gloria was a very loving , kind ,compassionate, family oriented person . She was loved by all and will be missed! My deepest condolences to her family. The Burkhart family
