  • Sedan – Madeline Elaine Tresner, age 97, of Sedan, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019, at Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan.

    She was born on October 18, 1922, in Peru, Kansas to Fred W. Hosmer Sr. and Neoma (Edwards) Hosmer. She attended school in Peru.

    On April 21, 1946 she married Ralph Dee Tresner in Caney, Kansas.  They made their home in Chautauqua County for many years.  Ralph “Lefty” preceded her in death on July 9, 2013. 

    She is survived by three nephews; Jim Chase and wife Jan of Elgin, Kansas, John Chase and wife Linda of Sedan, Kansas and Greg Chase of Sedan, Kansas; other family and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, her twin sister, Emogene Chase and Geraldine McDowell, and one brother Fred W. Hosmer Jr.

    Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan with Pastor Penny Goldberg officiating.

    In lieu of flowers family has suggested memorials to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice or the First Christian Church in Sedan.

    A wonderful person who I regarded as a friend, aunt and an outstanding person. She left an imprint on my heart and all of my memories are full of fondness and love for her. My best sincere sympathy to the rest of her family. Rest in peace and know that she touched many people.
