  • Sedan – Ross William Sproul, age 34, of Fairview, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 in Sedan, Kansas.

    Ross was born July 16, 1984 in Santa Maria, California to William Grant Sproul and Peggy Ann (Brandon) Sproul.  He was a 2002 graduate of McLouth High School in McLouth, Kansas.  He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in April 2003.  While a member of the Marine Corps, Corporal Sproul was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with Combat Logistics Regiment 7 at Camp Fallujah.  Corporal Sproul separated from the Marine Corps in July 2007 with an honorable discharge and numerous awards.

    Ross was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle and proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

    The light of his life, Raegan Kadence Sproul, was born November 3, 2009 in Henderson, Nevada to Ross and Jena Kranz.  His love for his daughter was immeasurable as she was the proudest accomplishment of his life. He enjoyed being involved in her 4-H and rodeo activities, riding horses together and being a loving father.

    His passions included music, hunting and fishing, playing the guitar, sports and especially the Kansas City Chiefs

    Ross worked for Unit Drilling Company and loved cowboying on the Sproul Ranch in Sedan, Kansas.  He later continued his education at the University of Wyoming and College of Southern Nevada. 

    Ross is survived by his daughter Raegan Sproul of Phoenix, Arizona; his parents, Bill and Peggy Sproul of Sedan, Kansas; one sister, Nancy Aubel and husband Derek of Camp Zama, Japan; one brother, Raymond Sproul and wife Kelsy of Sedan; nephews, Johnny Sproul, David Sproul, Henry Aubel and Ben Aubel; nieces, Adeline Sproul and Sierra Aubel; many other family and friends.

    Celebration of Life services will be held Friday, May 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Sedan with Pastor Penny Goldberg of the First Christian Church and Pastor Josh Brown of the Caney River Cowboy Church officiating.   Inurnment will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Isabella Cemetery in Isabella, Oklahoma with full Military Honor Guard.

    Family and Friends may call on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Dickens Family Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to greet the family.

    In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials to the Chautauqua County 4-H Council for Fairground Improvements and those may be left in care of the Dickens Family Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
