  • Sedan – Steve W. Sears, age 66, of rural Pawhuska, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

    Steve was born on April 26, 1952 in Sedan, Kansas to Floyd D. Sears and Zella M. (Rains) Sears.  Steve graduated from Sedan High School in the class of 1970.  After high school, Steve attended Coffeyville Community College and Tyro Technical School.

    He married Audrey Padgett and to this union two sons were born, Aaron and Clinton Sears.  They were later divorced.  Steve later married Lisa Engstrand and they were together for 37 years and had two children, Chelsa and Samuel.

    Steve worked as a farmer his entire life and enjoyed every minute of it.  Steve was baptized at the Chautauqua Baptist Church many years ago; he loved playing music on his guitar, loved to rope, and loved to work; Steve especially loved to make people laugh and smile and always had a good joke for you!

    He is survived by; Lisa (Engstrand) Sears of the home in rural Pawhuska, Oklahoma; three sons, Aaron Sears of Sedan, Kansas, Clinton Sears and wife Kati of Sedan, Kansas, and Samuel Sears and wife Callie of rural Pawhuska, Oklahoma; one daughter, Chelsa Norris and husband Brent of rural Pawhuska, Oklahoma; three sisters, Darlene Anderson and husband Burl of Wichita, Kansas, Sue Myers and husband Delbert of Stilwell, Oklahoma, and Cheryl Collins and husband Jerry of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; one brother, Gene Sears and wife Patti of Wichita, Kansas;  7 grandchildren; Layton Sears, Hailey Norris, Landrea Sears, Justus Norris, Lyndon Sears, Violet Norris, and Cambrie Sears.

    Steve was preceded in death by his parents.

    Graveside Services will be held Friday, July 27, 2018 at 10:00 am. at the Oak Grove Cemetery near Elgin, Kansas with Pastor Gary Cole officiating.

    Family and friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the Dickens Family Funeral Home in Sedan.

    The family has suggested memorials to the Steve Sears Athletic Scholarship Fund and may be left in care of the Dickens Family Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.

    We always had fun back in high school especially after the ballgames. You never complained carting all of us around! God bless your families and hold them close!
