  • Sedan – Jeannie Blanchard, age 90, passed away Monday, April 30, 2018 at her home in Sedan, Kansas.

    Jeannie was born on January 26, 1928 in Cedar Vale, Kansas to Cal Blanchard and Helen (Hampton) Blanchard.  She attended school later receiving her GED.

    Jeannie went to college and graduated from Caldwell-Cox Cosmetology Academy in Dodge City, Kansas.  She worked as a waitress for many years before her retirement.  She moved back to Sedan in the early 1990’s.

    Jeannie favorite hobby was genealogy.  She enjoyed all aspects of learning her family lineage that was on the East Coast; she liked to go dancing, spending time with her family in Branson; going to auctions and antique shopping; going fishing and camping with her daughter’s; she also enjoyed visiting with people as she never met a stranger.

    Jeannie is survived by three sons; Dan Myers of Branson, Missouri, Rodney Vancil of Omaha, Nebraska and Randy Vancil of Olathe, Kansas; two daughters, Lea Myers of Sedan, Kansas and Jeanette Myers of Sedan, Kansas; five grandchildren, Dustin McClanahan of Nowata, Oklahoma, Tasha Carnahan of Temple, Texas, Brandon Vancil of Omaha, Nebraska, Stephen Vancil of Hays, Kansas, and Brett Vancil of Hays, Kansas; five great-grandchildren, Kendall Carnahan, Kendrick Carnahan, Kent Carnahan, McKinley Vancil, and Bentley Vancil.

    She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lou and Robert Blanchard; two sisters, Geneva Goode and Loretta Blanchard.

    Church services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday May 14, 2018 at the First Christian Church in Sedan with Richard Blankinship officiating.  Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan.
