  • Sedan – Doyle A. Howerton, age 60, of Sedan, Kansas passed away, Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan.

    Doyle was born on February 13, 1957 in Coffeyville, Kansas to William Vernon Howerton and Geneva Lorene (Moser) Howerton.

    Doyle graduated from Atchison High School in Atchison, Kansas.  Doyle moved to North Dakota, where he met his wife of 35 years, Susan (Schlauch) Howerton.

    The couple married July 15, 1978, and soon moved to Greybull where Doyle pastored the Assembly of God Church, then the family moved to Thermopolis in 1983 and Doyle founded the landscaping business The Howerton Touch.  Sue preceded him in death on April 27, 2014.  Doyle then moved back to Sedan where he has lived for the past two years.

    Doyle was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for many years; he loved to play cards, and loved watching Netflix and movies; he also loved the Kansas City Chiefs.

    He is survived by a niece, Kristen Lonjers of Mclouth, Kansas and one nephew, Philip Lonjers of Bowie, Maryland; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

     He was preceded in death by his daughter, Catherine Noel Howerton, his wife, Susan (Schlauch) Howerton, and his parents.

    A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the God’s Lighthouse of Prayer in Peru, Kansas with Pastor Frank Mundy officiating.  Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will take place at a later date.

    I am a CNA. I work at PVM. I have taken care of Doyle and was a fan of his for sharing similar likes. Being a chiefs fan. He loved his mother and was an outstanding man. I will miss him and he was a joy to be around.
