  • Sedan – Ronald Lee Cox, age 83, of Sedan, Kansas passed away, Monday, September 4, 2017 at the Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan.

    Ronald was born on October 16, 1933 to Walter James Cox and Mildred Agnes (Wilson) Cox in Elgin, Kansas.

    Ronald was a lifetime resident of Sedan and Chautauqua County.  He went to high school in Sedan.

    On May 25, 1956, Ronald enlisted in the United States Army and served his country until he was honorably discharged on May 7, 1958.

    Ronald worked as a road grader operator for Chautauqua County Road and Bridge Department for many years until his retirement.

    Ronald enjoyed his iced tea, loved watching everything outdoors, and he especially enjoyed going to the Ranch Restaurant to visit for many years.

    He is survived by one daughter; Rebecca Cox; one niece, Donna Shumaker of Clinton, Missouri; and a special friend Loma Smart of Sedan, Kansas.

    He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Dwight and Joe, two sisters, and his parents.

    Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date with inurnment at Elgin Cemetery.

    He was for sure a food man. I enjoyed caring for him at P. V.M during my time there. He always had something to say, usually onry. He will be missed.

    So sorry to hear about Ron. I knew him my whole life. His mom was my grandma's best friend. They quilted together at the church in Elgin. I have so many great memories of Ron. He was very funny and had a funny laugh. His family was like our family. R.I.P. Ron until we meet again. I know you were met by many up in Heaven. Praying for your family friend.

    Ron loved to talk,joke and share,his words were serious and times funny,know he will be missed,Loma has been there for him for a long time,Ron was a friend to many.
